My participation in the Lidl-Sklep.pl project
I was part of a team that contributed to the development of Lidl’s online store specializing in non-food products. It’s important to note that this project was by no means a solo endeavor; rather, it was the result of the collective effort of many individuals.
My role in this undertaking involved overseeing the homepage, creating various responsive subpages, and managing the subpages for weekly advertising campaigns in accordance with the corporation’s guidelines.
To accomplish these tasks, I utilized a range of web development tools and technologies, including HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap. Additionally, working on this project taught me the significance of cross-departmental collaboration, perseverance, and a deep respect for deadlines.
Collaborating with a dedicated e-commerce team, I contributed to the creation of a user-friendly and visually appealing online store that aligned seamlessly with Lidl’s brand identity. This experience not only improved my technical skills but also reinforced the value of teamwork and effective communication in achieving project goals.
One of the primary challenges we faced while working on the Lidl online store project was the need to identify and address various issues. One significant issue was the lack of responsiveness across all subpages of the website. This posed a problem, as a non-responsive design could lead to a suboptimal user experience, especially on mobile devices, potentially resulting in a drop in conversion rates.
The technical landscape presented another set of obstacles. Lidl, being a large corporation, operated on multiple systems and platforms. This complexity made it challenging to ensure a consistent user experience across all devices. Additionally, gaining access to the necessary resources and permissions within the corporate framework was a time-consuming process.
To tackle these issues, we implemented a series of solutions. First and foremost, we adopted Bootstrap, a responsive web design framework, to overhaul the website’s layout and functionality. Bootstrap allowed us to create a unified design system and ensured that our website was not only visually appealing but also responsive on various devices, including smartphones and tablets.
Through rigorous testing on different mobile devices, we fine-tuned the responsiveness of numerous subpages. This responsive design overhaul significantly enhanced the user experience, making it easier for customers to navigate the website and ultimately leading to improved conversion rates. ■
